Whoa, whoa, whoa… what’s a CSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. When you become a CSA member, you’re purchasing a share of what the farm produces that year, meaning you get a weekly supply of fresh, seasonal vegetables and greens from spring until fall.
By subscribing to a CSA, you provide your farmer with some early capital for purchasing seeds, equipment, and much more so that they can have everything ready for a successful growing season.
A CSA is a great opportunity to try new varieties of vegetables that you don’t normally find at the grocery store. They’ll be fresher, tastier, packed with nutrients, and more beautiful on the plate.
How does it work?
Our 2023 CSA membership is $720 for the season ($40/week).
When you subscribe to our CSA membership, you will receive a weekly box of veggies and greens for 18 weeks between June and October. Your membership comes with two reusable totes that are yours for the season.
CSAs will be available for pickup on Saturdays from 10am to 12 noon. We’ve partnered with the fine folks at Little Chief & Co, who have been kind enough to provide us with a convenient downtown pickup location.
We do not offer delivery.
Our registration form can be found below. If you decide to register, we’ll contact you with more information as soon as we get your email, and you will get a minimum week’s notice before the first week of service.
What happens if…?
- If you have to miss a week because you’re away, or simply can’t make it, you’re welcome to have a friend or family member pick up your share in your stead. We do not carry over boxes.
- We do not do substitutions, as it can become complicated during packing days. Fresh, locally grown food tastes a lot different than what you get at the grocery store, so who knows, maybe you’ll discover that you actually LOVE eggplant after all!
- In the event of an emergency, or for personal reasons, we reserve the right to cancel a week of service. Knock on wood!
What can I expect to see in my box?
Every week will include a bag of salad mix and/or microgreens, and an assortment of 4 or more other seasonal veggies and greens including:
- basil
- beans
- beets
- bok choy
- cabbage
- carrots
- celery
- cilantro
- cucumbers
- dill
- eggplant
- fennel
- fresh onions
- garlic
- hot peppers
- kale
- kohlrabi
- leeks
- parsley
- radish
- salad turnips
- scallions
- scapes
- spinach
- summer squash
- sweet peppers
- swiss chard
- tomatoes
Please bear in mind that there may be crop failures – it’s just the reality of farming; so as you read the list, we hope you understand that some items may not necessarily make it into the box next year. With that said, there may also be a surprise or two!
